Another “Village Condominium” was created in the town of Vale Maria Dias, within the municipality of Loulé, as part of an application to the Environmental Fund.
In an area of 17 hectares, divided into 5 plots, the work carried out on site included cleaning, pruning cork oak trees, felling some dead trees, improving an existing water point and cleaning a water line.
Carob, strawberry, and almond trees were also planted, totaling approximately 900. Over the next five years, the municipality will be responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and irrigating this entire area.
This "Condominium" stems from a recently submitted Environmental Fund application, which also included the Malhão project, with a total value of approximately €88,000 (€35,000 was invested in Vale Maria Dias). Vítor Aleixo, Mayor of the Municipality, emphasized that this is "another project for the safety of the people who live here," with the main objectives being, on the one hand, increasing the population's resilience to forest fires, enhancing and preserving existing resources, increasing economic potential, and enhancing the sustainability and value of land. On the other hand, promoting the revitalization of agricultural and silvopastoral activities, improving and restoring habitats, and boosting rural tourism.
