Sporting Clube de Portugal returned to pre-season action tonight, returning to the Estádio Algarve to face Sunderland AFC, in another test as part of their preparation camp in the south of the country.
After their loss to Celtic FC, the Lions responded positively, winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from Francisco Trincão in the 11th minute of the first half. The Portuguese striker capitalized on an excellent attacking combination, resulting from an assist from Conrad Harder, to open the scoring and secure the victory against the English team.
Rui Borges again made several changes throughout the match, giving minutes to different players in the squad and continuing to integrate the new signings into the team's playing style.
Sporting CP now continues its preparation for the new season with two highly demanding matches: the first against Villarreal CF, on July 25th, at the Estádio Nacional do Jamor, for the Cinco Violinos trophy, and then the Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup against SL Benfica, scheduled for July 31st, again at the Estádio Algarve.
The game was organized by Singular Sport.
