The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel reinforces its commitment to promoting sports and tourism with the local implementation of the project "Guidelines. For everyone, at any time"
The inauguration of the São Brás de Alportel Permanent Orienteering Courses will take place today, February 15th. The initiative, which will begin at 10:00 am at Largo de São Sebastião, marks the completion of the "Orienteering for Everyone, Anytime" project, promoted by the Portuguese Orienteering Federation (FPO) and implemented locally by the José Belchior Viegas School Group (AEJBV), with the support of the São Brás de Alportel City Council.
Facilitating the practice of Orienteering, both casually and through scheduled training or education activities, is one of the main objectives of this project, which also aims to promote sport as a tool for tourism development, as well as making orienteering accessible to all, reinforcing its inclusive and integrative nature, while combating sedentarism and encouraging the regular practice of physical activity, promoting an active and inclusive lifestyle, accessible to all ages and abilities.
To ensure everyone's participation, the Orienteering courses are available on physical maps, which can be collected at the Municipal Tourist Office, the Arts and Crafts Center, the Regional Tourist Office in Largo de São Sebastião, and the Alportel Museum Center in that village, where some of the courses are located. The maps can also be downloaded in PDF format from the municipal website – www.cm-sbras.pt – under Areas & Services > Tourism > Sports/Adventure > Orienteering Courses. In keeping with new technologies, for greater convenience, the courses can be completed using smartphone apps as a timing and confirmation system.
This project reinforces São Brás de Alportel's commitment to sports and sustainable tourism, encouraging residents and visitors to explore the region in an active and healthy way.
