Free dermatological screening in all parishes
The towns of Castro Marim, Altura, Azinhal and Odeleite will host another free screening for cancer and other skin diseases promoted by the Municipality on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of October.
This initiative, supported by dermatologist Manuela Aguiar, has enabled the detection of tumor lesions at an early stage. Possible pre-cancerous lesions (actinic keratoses) are also treated with liquid nitrogen, purchased specifically for this purpose.
Screening begins on October 22nd at the CIDAFO Citizen Space, in Odeleite, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm, continuing to the Azinhal Continuing Care Unit between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
The following day it will be Altura's turn, at Lar Cegonha Branca, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
The last screenings will take place at the Castro Marim Municipal Library on October 24, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
Registration is limited and can be made by calling 281 510 778 and 281 510 754.
The dermatological screening promoted by the Municipality of Castro Marim since 2009, between May 21st and 23rd, had the participation of around 240 people, continuing to be an absolute success and contributing to the improvement of the health conditions of the population.
During this period, more than 70 treatments were carried out for possible pre-cancerous lesions (actinic keratoses) with liquid nitrogen, acquired for this purpose, in addition to 24 people being referred to the Algarve Regional Health Administration and a hundred being kept under surveillance.
The initiative is organized by the Municipality of Castro Marim, in partnership with the Parish Councils and the Algarve Regional Health Administration.
