World Animal Day, celebrated on October 4th, was celebrated in Quarteira with enthusiastic community participation.
More than 130 people and around 117 dogs gathered for an event full of energy, companionship and love for animals, organized in partnership between Quarteira Parish Council and the Animal Rescue Algarve (ARA).
The initiative aimed to promote healthy coexistence between people and animals, raise awareness of responsible adoption, and highlight the fundamental role of associations and volunteers in animal protection.
During the event, participants were able to share moments of relaxation with their four-legged companions, while learning more about the work carried out by ARA and other local organizations dedicated to animal rights.
As a complement to the celebrations, it is open until the end of this month, at Quarteira Municipal Center, the photo exhibition “Waiting for a home”, which features moving images of animals available for adoption. The exhibition invites all visitors to reflect on the importance of giving a new opportunity to those most in need.
With initiatives like this, Quarteira reinforces its commitment to animal welfare and raising community awareness for a more ethical and supportive coexistence with all forms of life.
