The Castro Marim Municipal Swimming Pool reopened this Monday, July 8, after the municipality made several investments and carried out renovation works on the infrastructure, with the aim of reducing the consumption of fossil fuels.
The work included the installation of a biomass boiler to heat the pool and a new forced circulation solar thermal system, focusing on reducing consumption and the building's energy sustainability.
Thermal insulation was also applied to the horizontal roof, which will ensure a significant reduction in heat losses during the heating season and reduce heat gains during the cooling season, without compromising watertightness and waterproofing.
The interior of the building was also lit to achieve greater energy efficiency.
The Castro Marim Municipal Pool reopens to welcome children and young people from the “Active Holidays” initiative and the community in general, while swimming lessons are scheduled to begin in September.
