The Municipal Council of São Brás de Alportel began last Monday, September 23, another major renovation project on water supply networks, this time aimed at the urban center, continuing the great effort that has been made to ensure that all networks are rehabilitated so that they are more efficient and prevent water losses.
Construction is beginning on Rua António Bentes, across from Av. da Liberdade and south of Parque das Amendoeiras. The project is expected to take one month to complete and will replace obsolete pipes to reduce water losses and, consequently, improve the municipality's water supply network's water efficiency.
The work, which has 100 % financing from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), represents an investment of over 320 thousand euros.
In total, the intervention includes a set of eight distinct sections of the supply network, namely: António Bentes Street, João de Deus and Padre Sena Neto Street, João de Deus Street, António Viegas Calçada Street, João Viegas Louro Street and Volunteer Firefighters Street, as well as in other urban centers, such as Poço dos Ferreiros and Calçada.
The intervention will require traffic restrictions during the works, with occasional closures expected, as well as periods of some water cuts during the connections necessary to replace domestic branches.
As municipal services always take care to minimize inconvenience to the population, the City Council would like to thank traders, residents and visitors for their understanding and cooperation.
This is a structural investment to improve the municipality's water supply network and the quality of service provided to the community, as well as the efficient use of this scarce natural resource. It reinforces the efforts that the Municipality has been making gradually, continuously and as planned in the Municipal Water Efficiency Plan.
