The session "Is my child addicted to screens?" will take place on October 15th, at 5:30 pm, at the Faro Municipal Library, as part of the "Social Library - Humanize Yourself" project.
The Municipality of Faro, through the António Ramos Rosa Faro Municipal Library, reinforcing the library's social role as a cultural, educational, and leisure space serving the community, is promoting the "Social Library – Humanize Yourself" project. This initiative aims to bring people closer to the library through social and contemporary topics, creating a space for encounters, sharing, and human growth. On October 15th, at 5:30 pm, a session will be held on the topic "Is my child addicted to screens?", focusing on promoting the healthy use of communication technologies among children and young people. Aimed at parents and guardians, this discussion proposes a joint reflection on the balanced use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), emphasizing the importance of family involvement in guiding younger generations toward a conscious and responsible use of the digital world.
The session will feature the "IKIGAI – Digital Balance" project, which will help clarify doubts and guide the discussion. Inspired by the Japanese concept of ikigai—"reason for living"—the project advocates the importance of finding balance between the various dimensions of life, including our relationship with technology. Its purpose is to reduce excessive screen time and promote the emotional, social, and personal well-being of children and young people. As in all sessions of the "Humanize Yourself" project, real stories and the sharing of experiences are valued, with space for testimonials from professionals and the general public. We believe that we are all experts in our own lives—and that by sharing, we learn and grow together. If you identify with this topic or know someone who might be interested, please participate and spread the word.
