The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, was in Castor Marim on Friday, August 22, to learn more about the youth programs “Holidays 5.0”, “Youth for the Environment” and “Active Holidays”.
At the Castro Marim Municipal Library, the minister participated in an interview organized by participants in the “Férias 5.0” project, which is part of the Municipality's “Active Summer Holidays”, having been interviewed by the children and young people of the municipality.
“Holidays 5.0” is the big news and a winning bet of the “Active Summer Holidays” program of the Municipality of Castro Marim, being a pilot project that was accepted nationwide in only 10 municipalities.
This new project brings together children, young people and technology, in partnership with the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth and the Young Link association, aiming to integrate the technological-scientific priority areas, with the objective of offering a generational experience to children and young people between the ages of 6 and 10, in a technological aspect of free time occupation.
This initiative covers topics such as robotics, programming, artificial intelligence, and digital communication, as well as alternative activities such as visits and games.
At the Castro Marim Municipal Pavilion, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports interacted with participants in the "Youth for the Environment" program, which encourages young people to work critically and actively participate in the development of public spaces and environmental preservation, through activities such as urban cleaning and salt production.
In the same space, Margarida Balseiro Lopes watched a dance performance by approximately 250 participants in the Castro Marim Municipality's "Active Summer Holidays", including some with special needs, a program recently awarded with a municipal excellence award.
