From October 5th to 27th, the municipality of Loulé hosts the 24th Loulé Early Music Meeting – Francisco Rosado, a pioneering festival in the Algarve region, promoted by Loulé City Council.

This year's meeting opens its doors at the Igreja Matriz de Loulé on October 5th, welcoming the German group High Beauty, a trio dedicated to historically informed interpretation on instruments of high chapel such as shawms, the old trumpet and the bagpipes.

This concert will be followed on the 6th at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, in Alte, Minimal Art, an ensemble that combines recorders and voices and is dedicated to rediscovering the music of Vicente Lusitano, a Portuguese composer from the 16th century.

The following weekend will be dedicated to poetry and music. The Church of Our Lady of Conception in Quarteira will host a concert with the Spanish group on the 12th. Chapel of Ministers. Baroque voice and strings will harmonize in a tribute to Miguel de Cervantes – a 17th-century Spanish novelist, playwright, and poet. On the 13th, at the Church of S. Lourenço in Almancil, we will be able to hear the project. Sing Poetry, whose Portuguese musicians are dedicated to composing music Vilancicos and Frottolas from the 16th century.

The traditional concert follows Loulé Flute Ensemble, which this year will invite the choir Jubilate Deo, for a fusion of voices and flutes dedicated to Baroque music. It will be in Boliqueime, at the Church of St. Sebastian, on the 20th.

The concert series will culminate with a carefully selected repertoire for recorder and harpsichord, combining the virtuosity of Erik Bosgraaf and Alessandro Pianu (from the Netherlands) with the brilliance of compositions by some of the most famous names of the Baroque period. This closing concert will take place at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in Querença on October 26th.

Please note that all concerts start at 7pm and are free of charge.

As expected, this year's event will also have a strong educational component, focusing on future generations of Algarve musicians. To that end, it will begin its activities with a workshop of instruments of high chapel (October 5, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova) and will end with masterclasses recorder and harpsichord (October 27, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, at the headquarters of the Sociedade Filarmónica Artistas de Minerva).

Founded by Francisco Rosado in 1998, and with artistic direction by Ana Figueiras since 2015, the Loulé Ancient Music Meeting contributes to the dynamism of the municipality's cultural program, heritage appreciation and the training of young enthusiasts and consumers of culture.
