Traditional festival in Quarteira brings friends and families together around a bonfire

Known as Magusto, the proceeds from the traditional festival will be donated to a Solidarity Grant from the Banco do Tempo Agency in Quarteira.

With a dance to the music of artist Cláudio Rosário, the Largo do Centro Autárquico de Quarteira will host the traditional Magusto (Magusto) – a popular festival where groups of friends and families gather around a bonfire and roast chestnuts – from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on November 12th. Proceeds from the sale of chestnuts and água-pé (water-foot) – a traditional Portuguese alcoholic beverage with a low alcohol content, made by adding water to grape pomace (stems or stalks) and brandy – will go to a Solidarity Grant fundraiser at the Quarteira Time Bank branch.

"This time of year represents, for all it encompasses, solidarity and unity. Our Magusto festival brings people joy, accompanied by a social aspect. Traditions must be maintained, and this is something we have not, and do not intend to, neglect. The Quarteira Time Bank has done fantastic work, and we must continue to support its initiatives," says Telmo Pinto, President of the Quarteira Parish Council.

The activity, with free entry, is organized by the Quarteira Time Bank, with the support of the Parish Council and the Loulé City Council.
