The Parish Council of Ferreiras announces the holding of the Southern Equestrian Fair, which will take place from September 12 to 14, 2025, at the Mercado do Levante, in Ferreiras, Albufeira.
The event will be dedicated to the equestrian world, with special emphasis on the Lusitano Horse, bringing together breeders, riders, horse riding enthusiasts and curious onlookers for competitions, demonstrations, moments of socializing and appreciation of equestrian culture.
The Southern Equestrian Fair aims to provide visitors with a showcase of the Purebred Lusitano horse, led by some of the best breeders in Portugal and Spain. In addition to the exhibition, the program includes highlights: on Friday, the opening day, there will be an exciting Equestrian Gala, while on Saturday, the public can watch the Stud Farm Parade, accompanied by a live Fado Night.
Dressage and Portuguese Equitation competitions are also planned, with several riders participating. The program, packed with activities, will be announced soon.
The Southern Equestrian Fair is supported by the Albufeira City Council, the Portuguese Equestrian Federation and the Portuguese Lusitano Horse Breeders Association.
According to Jorge Carmo, president of the Ferreiras Parish Council, "The Southern Equestrian Fair will be a unique event, designed to enliven the parish, the municipality, and the entire region, focusing on a theme much appreciated by residents and tourists alike. It will be an excellent program that promises to delight both those curious and passionate about the equestrian world."
Entry is free, as is access to all events taking place during these days dedicated to horses and Portuguese equestrian tradition.
