Brazilian central defender Lucas Áfrico is Farense's fifth signing for the new season, returning to Portuguese football with a contract until 2026, the I Liga football club announced today.
Lucas Áfrico, 29, played for FK Qabala in Azerbaijan, scoring one goal in 31 official matches last season. The center-back returns to Portuguese football, where he played for Marítimo and Estoril Praia between 2018 and 2023, having previously played for São Bernardo, Flamengo-SP, Corinthians, Santos, and Londrina in his home country.
"He's a player characterized by his technical ability and passing ability, which are important in building play. Defensively, he's an imposing player in the air and quick in defense. We're confident that Lucas will be essential to achieving the goals of the upcoming season," the Algarve club highlighted on social media.
Farense, which will have coach José Mota for another season, finished the 2023/24 season in 10th place in the I Liga, its best record since 1995/96
