It rained art in São Brás de Alportel. National Water Day, October 1st, was celebrated with the opening of the exhibition “Water and the Sea for Me”, which comes to the municipality through the Municipal Service of Environmental Education and Climate Action, in partnership with Águas do Algarve, SA and which can be visited throughout the month in the lobby of the São Brás CineTeatro Jaime Passos Pinto and in the São Brás Municipal Market.
A moment celebrated with the youngest, more specifically with the 4th year class of EB 1 n.º2 of São Brás de Alportel who in the 2021/22 school year participated in the Water Efficiency Competition at School, by APA-ARH of Algarve, where they were distinguished with an honorable mention.
Also present at the long-awaited opening ceremony were the Mayor, Vitor Guerreiro, who is responsible for the Environment Department, and Vice-President Marlene Guerreiro, responsible for the Education Department; the director of the José Belchior Viegas School Group, Sónia Figueiredo; the person responsible for the Municipal Service of Environmental Education and Climate Action, Cristina Matias; and the person responsible for Communication and Environmental Education at Águas do Algarve, Teresa Fernandes.
The Vice-President of the City Council, Marlene Guerreiro, who is also responsible for social action, praised this initiative “of enormous value, an example of inclusion through art and dialogue between generations, around an important collective Mission, which should involve us all”.
Comprising 49 works, created by users of all ages, this exhibition is the result of the 1st and 2nd editions of the Competition with the same name, whose objective is to raise awareness and invite reflection and consciousness of the importance and value of Water and the Sea, associated with the situation of water scarcity experienced in the Algarve.
