New Governing Bodies of the Algarve Hunters Federation Elected

The Algarve Hunters Federation elected its new governing bodies for the four-year period 2025-2029, at a General Assembly held last Saturday in Tavira.

The session saw strong turnout, with around one hundred voters unanimously approving the single list headed by Vítor Palmilha, who was thus re-elected as chairman of the board.

After the vote, and before a well-attended assembly, Vítor Palmilha announced that this will be his last term as head of the Federation. He therefore appealed to members to prepare and be willing to take on future responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of this organization in defending and promoting the hunting sector.

The leader also presented the strategic axes for the new term, highlighting the ProROLA Program, which aims to reopen, albeit controlled, turtle dove hunting in accordance with the limits set by the European Union. He also highlighted the reactivation of the Hunting and Biodiversity Competence Center as a priority—an initiative that aims to strengthen the sustainability of hunting resources and streamline the entire value chain associated with hunting.

At the regional level, Vítor Palmilha announced the return of the Hunting, Fishing, Tourism and Nature Fair — a leading event in the sector — to Albufeira in 2026. He also highlighted the protocols established with the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, and Tavira, which allow hunters to actively collaborate in monitoring and managing the territory, contributing significantly to the prevention of forest fires.

At the end of the session, he left a message of unity and responsibility: "The Algarve Hunters Federation is now a respected organization nationwide. It is up to all of us to live up to our responsibilities as hunters, ensuring a strong, responsible sector that is prepared for the challenges of the future."

The inauguration ceremony of the new governing bodies is scheduled for June 6th, at 7 pm, at the Pinhal Shooting Range, in the municipality of Silves.
