On April 24th, Rui David presents the initiative “Censored: The Music That Challenged the Dictatorship” at the Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen Municipal Library in Loulé.
Aimed at 2nd and 3rd cycle students (over 10 years old), the activity takes place in two sessions, at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
In "Censored: The Music That Challenged the Dictatorship," author and performer Rui David transports us back to the years of dictatorship in Portugal, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution. This performance offers a powerful and moving glimpse into the period when censorship ruled, limiting freedom of expression and artistic creativity.
A journalist by training and a musician by vocation, Rui David uses his passion for music to tell us fascinating stories about resistance to censorship during the Portuguese dictatorship. He takes us on a journey through time, revealing how singer-songwriters used their lyrics and music to whisper messages of hope, freedom, and resistance.
