The Boliqueime Parish Assembly Room, located in the former Primary School, opens this Saturday, August 10th, the 'Carro Algarvio' exhibition.
This exhibition analyzes the origin and evolution of the Algarve cart, commonly known as the "car de besta," and its economic and social importance to the region up until the last quarter of the last century.
It is, therefore, an opportunity to delve into the history of the region, and to learn about the variations and particularities of the construction of this means of transport, which is also conditioned by the differences in communication routes between the coast, the Barrocal and the mountains.
This exhibition was the result of an initiative by curators Francisco Oliveira Martins, Maria do Céu Oliveira Martins, Emanuel Sancho and Francisco Lameira, with the support of the Boliqueime Parish Council and the Loulé Municipal Council.
The inauguration is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. this Saturday. The collection can be visited until September 10th, weekdays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Entry is free.
