Residents of the parish of Boliqueime will now have access to the services of the Bibliomóvel, through a “new” vehicle, starting on May 13th.
The Loulé City Council restored the old van that served as the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's Traveling Library, considering the historical and symbolic value this type of vehicle holds in our country. This vehicle will now transport books and other documents to the towns of Povo de Boliqueime, Fonte de Boliqueime, Vale Silves, Alcaria, Escola de Benfarras, and Vale Judeu (the latter in the parish of S. Sebastião).
The newest van, which has been in circulation for a longer time, will continue to travel to the remaining isolated areas of the municipality and to schools without a school library, from Monday to Friday.
Remember that the Bibliomóvel – a traveling library, an extension of the Loulé Municipal Library – carries around 1,200 documents, primarily books but also magazines, newspapers, DVDs, music CDs, and a computer with an internet connection.
This service is aimed especially at residents of the municipality of Loulé, who do not have easy access to the Municipal Library or Library Centers, and aims to promote reading and cultural enrichment of the population.
