On October 3rd, at 6:30 pm, the Conversation Cycle “Sowing Today…Reaping Tomorrow…” brings to the debate at the Municipal Library of Loulé the theme “The Importance of Autonomy and Dignity in Old Age”, with Maria de Jesus Névoa.
Old age is a natural stage of life that should be lived with respect, care, and appreciation. Autonomy and dignity are essential for older adults to maintain a sense of belonging, self-esteem, and quality of life. Allowing them to have an active voice in their choices, respecting their experiences, and promoting accessible and inclusive environments are ways to ensure these rights.
Recognizing dignity in old age means seeing each person beyond their age, valuing their history and contributing to a more humane and just society.
The October session will be hosted by Maria de Jesus Névoa, a graduate in Social Work and a Master in Organizational Management, and author of the book “Posso Falar-te de Velhos” (I Can Tell You About Old People), which won the social relevance award from Editora Helvetia at the Salon du Livre, in Switzerland, in March 2025.
The “Sowing Today… Harvesting Tomorrow…” Conversation Cycle is a program held monthly at the Loulé Municipal Library, which challenges the general population to participate, reflect, share and debate on various topics related to health and well-being, with the aim of contributing to the empowerment of each individual and their families in promoting their health and well-being.
As has been the case in previous sessions, during this initiative, interested parties will be able to provide their children, aged 3 or over, with the opportunity to participate in an activity dedicated to promoting books and reading, led by library professionals, upon prior registration.
Participation is free, but subject to registration through the following link: https://forms.gle/AABBiHSt473gGGH17
