Loulé will become the new home of APPA – Portuguese Association of Animation Producers, under an agreement signed between this entity and the Municipality of Loulé, this Monday.
This initiative is part of the municipal strategy to support audiovisual production and promote the municipality as a leading hub in the film and audiovisual sector, particularly through the work of the Loulé Film Office, attracting professionals, companies and investors to this area.
APPA's new location isn't the only new development. As part of an agreement with Loulé City Council, the association will organize an international animated film event based in Loulé, with national and international impact, which will be part of the Algarve Film Week program. 2026 marks the launch of the Ibero-Latin Animation Meeting in Portugal, an initiative that will attract investment and talent to Loulé, in addition to the international exposure it will bring to the municipality and the Algarve region.
On the other hand, the synergies created by the installation of APPA in Loulé will allow for the creation of new opportunities for students at the University of Algarve, namely internships, bringing qualified employment opportunities and a link between training and the business sector.
In addition to the new space in the city of Loulé, part of the existing creative ecosystem, the Municipality will provide full logistical support to this association.
APPA thus reinforces the decentralization of the audiovisual sector in Portugal.
