The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel reinforces its support for youth housing with a new application period.
The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel continues to support the municipality's young people with the Youth Rental Support Program, which has already helped several young people since its launch in 2020.
This week a new application period for the allocation of a housing unit began.
Created in 2020 to address the growing challenges in accessing housing, both locally and nationally, the program aims to improve living conditions and promote the independence of young families in São Bras.
Applications are now open and will be accepted until March 21, 2025 at the Community Support Center.
"We want to ensure that young people in our municipality have a fair opportunity to start their lives independently. Access to housing is a growing challenge, and this program reflects the Municipality's commitment to supporting the new generations," said Marlene Guerreiro, Vice-Mayor of the Municipality responsible for housing, emphasizing the Municipality's commitment to maintaining and expanding this social support measure.
The Youth Rental Support Program is aimed at young people between the ages of 22 and 35 who are actively employed, homeless, and have low incomes. Since its implementation, 18 grants have been granted, benefiting 10 families in the municipality. Each grant represents a concrete step toward creating a more inclusive and supportive community.
The Municipality is committed to continuing to provide this support, aware of its fundamental role in building a better future for younger generations.
A commitment to housing and community
It is important to remember that this measure is part of the Municipal Housing Policies that act on several axes, from projects to build new housing and acquire vacant housing in the Historic Center and villages of the municipality to recover and make available in the Municipal Housing Stock, through applications submitted under the Local Housing Strategy to the Rental Support Program aimed at the community in general.
Aware that housing work touches every aspect of citizens' lives, the Municipality also has other ongoing measures in place, such as the "Mão Amiga" social support program, which aims to improve the living conditions of the most economically and socially vulnerable families living in the municipality. Since the program's launch, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel has supported 54 families, totaling over €303,014.45 in municipal support.
