AFA – Algarve Fado Association will celebrate its 13th anniversary next Sunday, April 13th, with a special celebration dedicated to the most Portuguese of musical expressions: Fado.
Founded on April 13, 2012, AFA has established itself as a leading cultural institution in the Algarve region, promoting Fado not only as an art form, but also as an element of identity and intangible heritage.
Nonpartisan and secular, the Association stands out for being an open space for the debate of ideas and the promotion of activities that aim to value and disseminate Fado as a cultural and scientific expression. Over the past thirteen years, it has organized meetings, soirees, debates, training sessions, and various artistic events, with the aim of preserving and innovating within the Fado tradition.
To mark this special occasion, the AFA management decided to recreate a typical fado atmosphere, offering the audience a memorable evening filled with emotion, nostalgia, and talent. The event will feature performances by some of the region's most renowned fado artists, including Isa de Brito, Luís Manhita, Melissa Simplício, José Manuel Ferreira, Tatiana Pinto, and other guest artists, who promise to give voice to the Algarve soul through fado.
The initiative aims not only to honor AFA's years of work and dedication, but also to reinforce the association's commitment to the continued promotion of fado as a symbol of Portuguese culture. The evening will be marked by the reunion of fado lovers, artists, and audiences in an intimate and emotionally charged setting.
The management invites all fans to join this celebration, in tribute to the tradition, talent and persistence of an association that has kept the flame of Fado alive in the Algarve for over a decade.
