This is a landmark year for women's football! For the first time, the Algarve Trophy brings together three of the best teams in the Iberian Peninsula in a pre-season competition organized to celebrate and support a rapidly growing sport.
Benfica, Sporting and Seville are the invited teams of this first Algarve Trophy – Women 2024, which features three exciting games played on August 8, 9 and 10, at Algarve Stadium.
Benfica are the current four-time national champions, having won the double last season – Championship and Portuguese Cup – and head into the new season as one of the favorites to win a competition that will be more competitive than ever.
Sporting – national runner-up for the last five seasons – is determined to overtake the Eagles as favorites and boasts a team full of great talent.
As for Sevilla, the Andalusian team achieved a brilliant seventh place in the Spanish League last season, the competition home to European champions Barcelona, and they hope to do even better in the 24/25 season.
