It's already a tradition of solidarity. The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel concluded 2023 with another grant to social solidarity institutions in the region, whose meritorious work has led to the development of projects that benefit the people of São Brás.
At the end of this year, 10 institutions received this support: the Faro delegation of the Portuguese Cerebral Palsy Association (APPC); the Algarve Mental Health Association (ASMAL); the Association for the Intervention and Rehabilitation of Disabled and Disadvantaged Populations - EXISTIR; the Association of Mentally Ill, Families and Friends of the Algarve (UNIR); the Algarve Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Handicapped Children (AAPACDM); the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Albufeira; the Casa de Santa Isabel; the Casa da Primeira Infância; the Aboim Ascensão Refuge and the Serra do Caldeirão Social Solidarity Institution, which received support from the São Brás de Alportel City Council at the end of 2023, as unanimously decided at a council meeting, for a total investment of 6,140.00 euros.
"Considering the current context of difficulties and challenges, bringing new demands to institutions, such as increased expenses and reduced revenues, we believe this justifies increased attention and solidarity with the region's charitable institutions," reads the proposal presented by Vice President Marlene Guerreiro and approved by the municipal executive at a City Council meeting.
