LOULÉ CHAMBER MAKES GIS SOFTWARE LICENSES AVAILABLE TO FIVE ASSOCIATIONS

The Almargem Association, the Serra do Caldeirão Forestry Producers Association, the Carob and Almond Cooperative Group, the Association On Site and the Algarvensis Geopark Association will benefit from the software ArcGIS, an important Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology.

Through a collaboration protocol signed with the Municipality of Loulé (only the Algarvensis Geopark Association will sign later), for one year, the four associations will have at their disposal a personal use license that will help them meet the needs of many of their projects, for example in terms of cadastral and parcel land.

It should be noted that, as a result of the celebration of “Geographic Information Systems Day” in 2023, and the recording of the event on the Esri channel (gisday.com), the Municipality of Loulé was awarded, by “The GIS Day Team”, a total of five licenses, with the aim of “helping to encourage others to experiment with GIS” and to showcase their work at the next “GIS Day”, in 2024.

Since the Municipality already has this license, given that its entire system is based on this technology, it has now decided to share it with other entities that may benefit from it, encouraging the use of GIS technology to pursue its commitments.

“I hope it will be useful for your associations!” said Mayor Vítor Aleixo. ArcGIS is a powerful software Geographic Information System (GIS) suite that provides tools for capturing, visualizing, editing, managing, analyzing, and sharing data in the context of location. Includes access to thousands of curated datasets and maps that can be explored and leveraged for analysis and insights. It can be used in the cloud, on mobile devices, and on desktops to create maps, apps, dashboards, 3D scenes and models, and data science environments.
