On October 9th, today, at 6:00 pm, the António Rosa Mendes Municipal Historical Archive, in Vila Real de Santo António, will host the presentation of the 4th issue of Meridional – Journal of Mediterranean Studies 2024/2025, published by the Institute of Ibero-Atlantic Culture.
Between poetry, short stories, chronicles, historical essays and critical reviews, this issue of Meridional features texts by some of the most prominent figures in Algarve literature, such as Nuno Júdice in the field of poetry, Lídia Jorge in the field of literature or Maria da Graça Ventura, in the field of historical essays, among many other authors of unavoidable importance in the regional and national panorama.
Regarding Vila Real de Santo António, where this presentation will take place, this issue features research by historian Fernando Pessanha on the 1st Governor of VRSA, Francisco de Mendonça Pessanha Mascarenhas, and his actions in the territory between the Fantastic War of 1762 and the eve of the Great Battle of Guadiana in 1801.
The presentation session will be led by Professor Maria da Graça Ventura, a distinguished historian and director of the Meridional magazine.
