Animals are part of society and families, and their well-being has been a major focus of the Municipality of Castro Marim in recent years, with investments in the Official Intermunicipal Collection Center, located in Soalheiras.
Sterilizing cats and dogs is a priority, with around 800 sterilizations having been carried out in the last two years, in addition to an investment of around 90 thousand euros in medication, surgeries, microchips, food, uniforms, protective materials and hospital waste management.
These sterilizations have been essential in controlling free-ranging colonies, such as the one located in Altura, which recently underwent improvements to its conditions and structures, with the acquisition of new cat houses.
An investment is currently underway to build a new cattery, new support offices, new recovery areas, refurbish an area of the kennel, and improve reception and treatment conditions, all worth over €300,000.
The Municipality of Castro Marim would like to thank all its employees, volunteers, private citizens, Youth for the Environment, and the Guadi association for all the tireless work and commitment they have demonstrated over the past few years, always with animal welfare in mind.
The municipality also calls for responsible adoption: why not bring home a new four-legged friend?
