Two years later, Loulé has once again become a true Mecca for those who enjoy experiencing the “official end” of the Algarve’s summer entertainment programme.
This Saturday, August 30th, tens of thousands of people were present in the city, fulfilling the dress code and the good mood that Noite Branca Algarve – Loulé appeals to.
From the opening moment with the dance group Black Diamonds, when the clock struck 8:03 p.m., to the apotheotic finale with Deejay Kamala getting the crowd dancing, there were several highlights of this night that saw the city center overflow with an incredible human scene.
It was just after 11 a.m., and people were already staking out their seats at Largo do Monumento Engª Duarte Pacheco to watch Carolina Deslandes's concert in the front row. The singer, heavily pregnant, took the stage and was moved by the affection of the audience, who came out in large numbers to support her. It was on this same stage that The Gift returned, after a performance in 2017, in one of the most well-attended concerts in the event's history. But in 2025, the Alcobaça group outdid themselves, and for many, "it was even better." "It was beyond great…," said Sónia Tavares's band.
Among the musical concerts, the show also stands out, in 360° format, with all the power Bateu Matou. The band, comprised of Ivo Costa (a musician who accompanied Sara Tavares), Quim Albergaria (Paus), and Riot (Buraka Som Sistema), predicted on social media: "There's no turning back, this night will go down in history!" And it certainly will, as the power of this percussive energy, combining drums and computers, thrilled the spectators who crowded together near Largo Gago Coutinho to witness this moment.
On the hillside of the Castle, next to the Fountain in Praça Afonso III, two more noteworthy performances. First, with Chico da Tina (the "Francisco of the concertina"), rapper A Portuguese artist from Viana do Castelo who delighted the audience with a perfect fusion of modernity and tradition. A moment in which the artist's well-known inflatables, such as soccer balls, flamingos, and boats, bounced among the crowd, and of course, the irreverent humor that so characterizes him, were not lacking.
Blasted Mechanism, meanwhile, created a sensation, even among a younger generation unfamiliar with the band's three-decade career. True stage animals, they delivered some visual and stage surprises, marked primarily by fire and pyrotechnics, as well as the band members' own appearance. With a truly explosive sound and the pulse of songs like "Karkov," they thrilled the audience and really got the crowd going.
Electronic music, inseparable from the spirit of this festival, was present in every corner of the city, from a "discreet" stage in the Alcaidaria do Castelo, to the entrance of the Town Hall, in Largo de S. Francisco, and in a magnificent space in Cerca do Convento, where Bubba Brothers joined the Orquestra do Algarve, in a "commission" for this edition of Noite Branca Algarve – Loulé. And then a silent party which was almost always full (almost a thousand headphones distributed).
There was also room for jazz with the Algarve Jazz Orchestra bringing the serenity that this event also aims to provide to visitors,
Suspended dancers, skaters, marching bands, fire shows, capoeira, acrobatic gymnastics and much more enlivened the entire venue, in an area where the decorations also received rave reviews from visitors.
"We are thrilled with another success at this White Night Algarve – Loulé. It's an event recognized by the public, a landmark in the region and the country, and the result of hard work, especially by the Municipality's Events team. And the final result is clear to see: thousands of visitors were once again amazed by this program," says Carlos Carmo, director of this initiative and councilor of the Loulé City Council.
The Mayor, Vítor Aleixo, emphasizes: "The city's commerce, restaurants, hotels, and services sectors once again enjoyed a high point tonight. The impact on the local economy is undoubtedly significant, so the investment we're making in this program is crucial to supporting the city's business community."
White Night Algarve – Loulé returns on the last Saturday of August 2027.
