The municipality of Loulé begins operational meetings to defend the forest against rural fires.
The Municipality of Loulé began a series of operational coordination meetings within the scope of Forest Fire Defense (DFCI), similar to previous years, with the aim of strengthening coordination between the various entities involved in raising awareness, preventing and combating rural fires in the municipality.
These meetings will be held fortnightly and will take place during the period of Reinforced Operational Commitment, Delta Level, which corresponds to the months of June, August and September., in the sense of involving the participation of a wide range of entities with responsibilities in the field.
The Municipal Civil Protection Service, National Republican Guard, Loulé Municipal Fire Brigade, Portuguese Army, Parish Councils of the municipality, Serra do Caldeirão Forestry Producers Association, municipal companies (Infralobo, Infraquinta and Inframoura), the representative of the Hunting Associations and Clubs and the organic units of the Municipality of Loulé with relevant competences in the area participate in these meetings.
The main purpose of these meetings is to ensure effective coordination, sharing of information in real time and the mobilization of adequate resources for prevention, surveillance and rapid response to possible occurrences, promoting integrated and concerted action in favor of the safety of the population and the preservation of natural heritage.
This initiative is part of the Municipality of Loulé's commitment to sustainable land management. and the reducing the risk of rural fires, based on networking and proximity with all agents of the civil protection system.
It should be noted that in 2024, the municipality of Loulé recorded one of the smallest burnt areas in the last 20 years (since 2004), corresponding to a value of less than six hectares.
