330 years of the Parish of Olhão marked with four days of festivities and culture

The Parish of Olhão celebrates its 330th anniversary in 2025, and the celebrations promise to fill the city with life, culture and emotion between the 10th and 13th of July.

The program, promoted by the Olhão Parish Council in partnership with the Music Conservatory, the Municipality of Olhão and other local entities, offers a vibrant combination of tributes, music, dance and popular traditions.

The festivities begin on July 10th at 9:30 a.m. with a flag-raising ceremony to the music of the Moncarapacho 1st of December Philharmonic Band. Immediately afterward, at 10:00 a.m., the Olhão Parish Medal of Honor will be presented to the National Republican Guard, recognizing their service to the community. At 10:30 a.m., Olhão Group 6 of the Portuguese Scouts will be honored, and at 11:30 a.m., Maria da Conceição Pinto Pires will also be honored in a special moment in the Praceta Agadir Auditorium.

The musical aspect takes over the evening with live performances at the Agadir Square. Artist Ricky B takes the stage at 9:30 PM, followed by popular singer Rebeca at 10:00 PM, promising a lively evening for everyone.

On July 11th, the Senior University Choir of the Parish of Olhão brings a musical show with the special participation of Teresa Viola, Pedro Viola and Cantares da Ria, at 9:30 pm.

The 12th is dedicated to tradition with the XXVI Ria Formosa Folklore Festival, which will begin at 9 pm and will bring the richness of popular dances and songs to the city.

The celebrations will conclude on July 13th, also at 9:00 pm, with an end-of-year dance performance by the Olhão Music Conservatory. The theme, "Neverland – Where You Can Be a Child Forever," promises to enchant the audience with an artistic journey into the imagination of childhood.

The celebrations of the 330th anniversary of the Parish of Olhão highlight not only the local history and identity, but also the commitment to culture, memory, and community participation. With free admission to all events, the city invites residents and visitors to celebrate this significant milestone together.
